LAHORE: In a significant operation, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab has arrested a local associate of former Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden. The terrorist, Amin ul-Haq, was arrested following an intelligence-based operation (IBO).
Amin ul Haq is a prominent Al-Qaeda militant and is listed as a global terrorist by the United Nations. The CTD spokesperson stated that legal proceedings against the captured terrorist have been initiated, and an investigation is underway.
CTD authorities affirmed their commitment to a secure Punjab, emphasizing their pledge to eradicate the menace of terrorism. The division remains steadfast in its mission to eliminate terrorism from its roots.
On May 12, the CTD killed a suspected sharpshooter and claimed to have connections with the banned militant group Tehrik-I-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Faizan Butt. Butt was responsible for three attacks on police officers in Lahore within a week. He was killed in an encounter in Karol Ghatti.
Faizan had shot and killed a sub-inspector and a constable while they were returning home. He had also shot and injured another police constable.

The high-profile terrorist Amin ul haq Muhammad, originally from Afghanistan, was living in Pakistan using fake documents. He played a significant role in the reorganization of the banned terrorist group Al-Qaeda.
“The arrest of Dr. Aminul Haq is crucial in the fight against terrorism in Pakistan. The captured terrorist’s ID is 002, and Dr. Aminul Haq’s name is also listed as a Global Terrorist,” said Usman Gondal.
“After the withdrawal of NATO forces, Dr. Amin-ul-Haq traveled to Afghanistan. In April 2024, Dr. Aminul Haq was present in Afghanistan,” stated the DIG of CTD to the media.
